Scripture: 'After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. ' Acts 16:10 (NIV) Application: What if Paul hadn't had a vision, or gotten ill, and as a result took his detour to Troas? Maybe Luke, the physician, wouldn't have joined his ministry, and as a result the books of Luke and Acts may never have been written. And maybe Paul wouldn't have ministered in Philippi, met the strong and faithful merchant Lydia, and afterward composed the beautifully inspirational book of Philippians. We don't know. But God wanted Paul to take the detour from his planned itinerary. Paul didn't have to, but he chose to. And beautiful things happened. Nearly two thousand years later, we're still benefitting from a detour. Prayer: Father, comfort us along our journeys to know that it's alright to go off our charted paths every once and a while. Inspire us to explore when it's time to detour. Amen. Comments are closed.
