​We can't "earn this," however...

Scripture:
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:8-10 NIV

Application:
There's this pivotal scene in the film "Saving Private Ryan" in which the dying captain whispers these words to the film's namesake:
"Earn this."
We are fortunate that God doesn't ask us to "earn this salvation." We can't. But we can, through our lives, prayers, and works, show that we "appreciate this."

Prayer:
Dear Father God, the sacrifices You made to save us are beyond our imagination. We don't take this beautiful gift of salvation for granted. Please help us demonstrate our appreciation every day through how we live. Amen.
