Scripture: “But Mordecai heard about the plot and gave the information to Queen Esther. She then told the king about it and gave Mordecai credit for the report.” Esther 2:22 (NLT) "Let the robes and the horse be handed over to one of the king’s most noble officials. And let him see that the man whom the king wishes to honor is dressed in the king’s robes and led through the city square on the king’s horse. Have the official shout as they go, ‘This is what the king does for someone he wishes to honor!’”"Esther 6:9 "Mordecai the Jew became the prime minister, with authority next to that of King Xerxes himself. He was very great among the Jews, who held him in high esteem, because he continued to work for the good of his people and to speak up for the welfare of all their descendants." Esther 10:3 Application: When Mordecai did the right thing in reporting a plot to kill the king, he neither expected not received honor. He just did what he knew was right. Instead, someone else--his enemy--got promotion. But long after Mordecai did what was right, immense honor came his way. As Christians, we usually won't get honor for following Christ. In fact, we probably will be ridiculed. But God, at just the right time, will make sure that we get more honor than we ever expected. We just have to keep doing the right thing behind the scenes. Prayer: Dear Father, please give us patience and strength to always do what is right in Your eyes, and not feel frustrated when the world shuns, laughs at, or does harm to us. Amen.
