The imprisoned, the shut away.

Scripture:
Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering...And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore...Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account...I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been released. If he arrives soon, I will come with him to see you.

Application:
Our Bible is not one of pristine meadows and cloudless skies. Our faith was forged in gritty dungeons and gruesome torture. As Christians, we shouldn't shy away from people who have been imprisoned. In fact, we must "go outside the camp" and help those who need encouragement. We may meet Jesus there.


Prayer:
Christ Jesus, direct us to You, wherever You are, and if we can help the imprisoned by appealing to those in authority, show us how. Amen.
