but in a trail of smoke!Scripture: “By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.” 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 NIV Application: We should be happy that anyone makes it into the kingdom of God. But wouldn’t it be great if more of us could get there shining like precious gold? Yes, but not all will. Some who build their platform of life on ephemeral things like money, looks, and fame will make it in by the grace of God (like all of us), but their reward in eternity will not be as bountiful as it would be if they focused on the truly important things in life. Go for the gold. Prayer: Lord, we pray that we will shun things that are meaningless in eternity. We hope to help others focus on the truly great things that You’ve made it possible for all of us to capture. Amen. Comments are closed.
