Instead, wcripture:
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’” Luke 14:26-30 (NIV) Application: You can’t (or shouldn’t) plan to get married and continue planning to date other people. You give up that life and celebrate the God-blessed union. If you try to do both, you’ll fail at both, and be called a fool. When we give our lives to Christ, we have the same turning point. We have to say goodbye to the bad influences of our worldly life. No more associating with toxic friends, substances, and impulses. Instead, we fill our hands and hearts with the Cross of Jesus. Don’t worry, the Cross more than fills up the empty spaces left by those toxins, but Christ encourages us, “My yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:30). Prayer: Thank You Father, for taking the old, shabby baggage I carried when I crawled to You. Thank You, blessed Jesus, for accepting me and showing me how to never again be attached to that baggage. Never again. Amen.
