Scripture: For the Lord had told Moses to tell them, “You are a stubborn and rebellious people. If I were to travel with you for even a moment, I would destroy you. Remove your jewelry and fine clothes while I decide what to do with you.” Exodus 33:5 NLT And [Moses] said, “O Lord, if it is true that I have found favor with you, then please travel with us. Yes, this is a stubborn and rebellious people, but please forgive our iniquity and our sins. Claim us as your own special possession.” Exodus 34:9 NLT Application: The Israelites came so close to extinction because of their stubbornness and rebelliousness, but the intercession of Moses turned that perilous moment around and God instead made a covenant for the people. Still, they had to put away all their ostentatious finery and instead honor God with their first fruits. The applicability to our present lives is astounding...and scary. How close has any one of us come to destruction because of our own horrible behavior? How many times did intercessory prayer keep us alive? How close were we to destruction before we came to our senses and repented? We don't know, not yet. In the days of glory, maybe we'll see, and fall on our knees in awe and gratitude. There's no reason to wait. Repent, and give thanks now. Prayer: We give all glory to You, Father God, for Your withholding of punishment we deserved. We thank Jesus Christ for His shed blood and our prayer partners for the intercessory prayer that gave us time to repent. We humble ourselves, give You all glory, and pray intercessory prayers for others who have lost their way. Amen. Comments are closed.
