Scripture:
“The bed is too short to stretch out on, the blanket too narrow to wrap around you.” Isaiah 28:20 (NIV) Application: Thinking we are self-sufficient, we make preparations to defend ourselves from violence. But we must have God as our central point of rest. Just as the nation of Israel tried to do by making alliances with Egypt, we’ll fail if we leave God out of the equation. There’s an adage, “you’ve made your bed, now you have to lie in it.” If the bed is too short and the coverings too skimpy, we have no protection at all. Prayer: Dear God, I know I can’t rely on anything that is outside You. No man, woman, government, medicine, idea, tool, or weapon will be sufficient if it doesn’t come with Your blessing. I seek Your guidance and Your covering. Thank You for being there, here, and everywhere for me and all believers at all times. Amen.
