Scripture: “…When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.” Luke 12:48 “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" Esther 4:14. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10. Application: It seems every country is enduring crises not outside its borders, but within. Hateful people are emboldened to become more hateful, and hopeful people are discouraged from pursuing hope. In crises, we need Godly leaders. But the elected or appointed officials seem either corrupt or permissive of others being corrupt. That’s why Christians can’t look to mortal leaders for help. We look to God. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t remind leaders of God’s requirements. We should petition our officials to implore them to do what is right, not in their own eyes, nor in their political party’s eyes, but in God’s eyes. After all, they decided to accept their positions of leadership. Once there, they will be held accountable. Prayer: Father in heaven, we pray that You will send us righteous leaders. Amen.
