Scriptural Reference:
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 (NIV) Application: Are you struggling through hardships? Do you find yourself unable to catch your breath before something breaks, someone attacks you, a loved one hits bottom, money runs out, health collapses, or you just feel rotten and depressed? At times everyone feels crushed. There’s a way to survive. Take out your rusted anchor. It’s rusty because it has been used many times, plunged into dark, murky waters, and thrown out when the seas are choppiest. It’s tried and tested. Don’t let it get weakened by drugs, booze, sex, rage, or self-destruction. Like an anchor in a ship, it must reside within you. That anchor has a name: Jesus. No matter where you are in your faith, you should depend on Him. But as with any journey, it’s best to get that anchor ready before the storms hit you. Do it by meditating on Jesus when the waters are calm. Don’t let anything separate you from your anchor. Know that Jesus is with you, watching you, pulling for you. Hold on to your anchor. Eventually, that anchor will become you. Prayer: Dear God, I pray that I will remember to trust in Jesus when times are tough. I pray that when I am calm, I will focus on You, read the bible, and pray to You just as I would talk to a loving friend. Thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to be my anchor. I have faith to know that no matter what challenges hit me, I will be able to use Jesus as my anchor to hold me steady. I also pray that throughout my life, I will help others hold on tight to their own anchors. Thanks, and Amen.
