​God is emotionally hurt by nations, too.

Scripture:
'No one had the slightest interest in you; no one pitied you or cared for you. On the day you were born, you were unwanted, dumped in a field and left to die. “But I came by and saw you there, helplessly kicking about in your own blood. As you lay there, I said, ‘Live!’ '

When the Lord began to speak through Hosea, the Lord said to him, “Go, marry a promiscuous woman and have children with her, for like an adulterous wife this land is guilty of unfaithfulness to the Lord.

but they were bent on rebellion
and they wasted away in their sin.

when he heard their cry;
for their sake he remembered his covenant
and out of his great love he relented.

Application:
We wrongly think that God is an emotionless Creator far removed from the pain of rejection. But He has feelings. Not only people, but nations hurt God, as Israel has. To personalize His grief, God has given allegories and examples in the form of unfaithful spouses. They deeply hurt their loved ones, whether they realize it or not. A betrayed person many times is too hurt to readily forgive. We understand that. But God forgives in ways that are greater than human capacity. We must pray not only for ourselves and others to repent, but also for nations to do the same.

Prayer:
We are sorry for ignoring how we must have really hurt You with our sin, Father. We know that You have also been hurt by nations that have been given much by You, but they reject You or take Your blessings for granted. In our intercessory prayer, we are sorry. Help us to do better, and we pray for nations likewise. Amen.
