Conviction isn't depression.

Scripture:
For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.
2 Corinthians 7:10 NLT


Application:
God offers us the Holy Spirit as our Helper and Comforter. As such, the Holy Spirit convicts us when our thoughts and ways stray wrong. Conviction feels a lot like sorrow, and perhaps fear and regret. But it doesn't leave us there. It makes us want to change for the better and draw closer to God.
But depression is a weightiness that sees no hope. It wallows in grief, descending deeper until nothing but death seems to be the way out. It distances our minds and hearts from God.
Pray that all who suffer from depression will be touched by the Holy Spirit and be led to God's healing and His righteousness.


Prayer:
Dear God, please lift the emotional and mental burdens of all of us and help us accept the healing and direction You provide through Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
