Scripture: There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. “For whom am I toiling,” he asked, “and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?” This too is meaningless— a miserable business! Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:8-10, 12 NIV Application: If we are blessed with a decent marriage, we should make sure that we quickly end disagreements and reunite in the oneness God intended. If we are blessed with a good friend, we should not hesitate to extend warmth and encouragement. If we are blessed to be part of a faithful and God-centered church, we should maintain a spirit of mutual love and service to God's glory. In times of testing, a community of Godly people provides the protection, direction, and correction that makes life bountiful. Prayer: Lord, inspire us to be better people toward all people. Amen.
