Scripture: Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf. 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 NIV Application: Jesus instructed us in communion, telling it was a point of reflection, or remembering. We remember His sacrifice for us, and that we are a community of equal believers sharing the same wonderful saving story. We are like refugees plucked from a perilous ocean and placed safely into the strong vessel of our Savior. This royal Savior sacrificed His own safety and comfort just to rescue us, even though we had rebelled against Him. Indeed, He gave up His life to transport us into His eternally safe kingdom of love and mercy. Our gratitude is expressed by joining with others who shared that same sinking raft and giving praise to our Savior. Remembering Him, we pledge our support to help each other. Perhaps we can use our rescue story to help others floundering on the unforgiving seas? Prayer: Lord Jesus, our Rescuer, we remember You and thank You for saving each of us. Amen.
