Can’t we live with just enough?

Scripture:
“I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.” Exodus 16:4


“Two things I ask of you, Lord; do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.” Proverbs 30:7-9 (NIV)


“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:25,26 (NIV)


Application:
If we look and listen to modern society, we’ll be convinced that these are not the days of being satisfied with what we have. The world says we must fear:

• that some person or government will take our valuables away;
• that if we don’t buy the latest technology, we’ll become obsolete; and
• that if we haven’t upgraded our cars, wardrobes, and homes, we’re  unfit for modern society.

Really?

The only ancient text that has withstood the test of time tells us otherwise.
Trust God:
Not our eyes,
Not our ears, and
Not our fears.


Prayer:
Dear Jehovah Jireh, God our Provider, we trust You now, and we want to enhance our faith to see You and only You as our Provider. We rest in Your perpetual care. Thank You in advance for all that You will provide for us from now on. Amen.
