“You are altogether beautiful, my darling, And there is no blemish in you." Song of Solomon 4:7 NASB Application: The Bible appeals to both our spiritual and physical sides, and God made us to not be ashamed of wither. But we are to keep all things holy. Consider the Song of Solomon's poetic tribute of mutual love. Probably, Abishag is the Shulammite by whom King David was comforted, but never had an intimate physical relation with (1 Kings 1:1–4 and 1 Kings 2:17–22). This could explain Solomon's fury at his half-brother Adonijah's request to have the woman Solomon was so taken with. He observed her and was intoxicated with her from the days that David welcomed her, and after David's passing, Solomon was jealous for her love. For good reason, too, as she was incredibly lovely (Song of Solomon 1:5; 2:14; 4:9) and he to her (Song 5:10). Here is a beautiful poem of mutual adoration and love. It's nothing to be ashamed of for what it is at face value. Prayer: We pray that wives and husbands will always celebrate the beauty of love in all its holy forms. Amen. Comments are closed.
