Be-LEAVE

Scripture:
“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.” Mark 10:29-30 (NIV)


Application:
God doesn’t immediately position us where He’ll use us. God wants us to journey. Every prophet, every church leader, and every unsung hero in God’s kingdom must leave something.

• Abram, the central figure in all major religions, had to leave his country, people, and father’s household to fulfill God’s purpose of building a great nation (Genesis 12:1).

• The rich young ruler had to leave his money behind to disciple under Jesus (of course he didn’t—to his great loss, Mark 10:22).
• Ruth left her family and culture behind to serve Naomi and make Naomi’s God her God (Ruth 1:16).
• Good husbands are to leave their parents to marry a wife (Matthew 19:5).
• Jesus’ disciples left their occupations to become fishers of men (Mark 1:17).
• And, most important, our Savior Jesus Christ Himself, had to leave His heavenly throne to bring about the salvation of mankind  (John 6:38).

    In every instance, the leaving was done for God’s glory. In every case, the reward the person received after leaving was much greater than what was left behind. The journey wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it. Search your life and make a conscious decision to see what must be left behind to gain more, to God’s glory.

Dear Father, I’m ready to make my journey. I don’t know the route I’ll take, but with You as my guide, I know I will gain an eternal blessing. Amen.
