Scripture:
“In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor. Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them. Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.” Acts 9:36, 39-40 (NIV) Application: When you pass away, what work of your hands and heart will remain living after you? · Are you an artist, crafting clay, watercolors, words, music, or photographs? · Are you a giver, gifting books, meals, clothing, or tuition to those less fortunate? · Will the church gather and cry, remembering your talents, showing others the blessings of God that sprung forth from your unselfish hands? You have some inner gift that the world may not yet see. It burns within you, yearning for expression. Wake it up! Let it live! It may continue giving and living long after you've passed into glory. Prayer: Dear God, something inside me wants to bless others even after I come to be with You. You know what it is because You put it in me. Help me cultivate this gift. Please let me give it to the world as a long lasting blessing. Amen.
