Scripture: I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 1 Corinthians 3:2 NIV Application: Are we like "infants," needing to be fed with milk and not solid food? Are we like Hebrew slaves newly freed from 400 years of oppression by Pharaoh? Haven't we learned that Christ has arisen victoriously? We don't need astounding supernatural miracles to know that the Bible is God's Word and true. In Matthew 13:17, Jesus said that many prophets wished they could have seen the things of Jesus' day. We are even more fortunate than the people Jesus talked to. Jesus has arisen and we have the Holy Spirit. The point: we have God speaking to us in His printed Word, readily available to practically any one of us who really wants it. Parted sea waters and fleeces that are wet one day and dry the next shouldn't be substitutes for faith. Read the Bible, learn from biblical scholars, pray for clarification and direction. God will answer us. Yes, sometimes through supernatural events, but more often through wise saints among us, dreams, scriptures that pop into our minds and won't go away, sermons, or holy songs. Perhaps we have entertained angels unaware and heard confirming messages from them. But in all cases, every message must be of the same gospel...and that message must always match up with our Bibles, as said in Galatians 1:8. We will hear God's Word. But are we listening? Prayer: Dear Father, we know that You never leave us without an answer to every problem we ever will encounter. Please remind us to slow down and listen, and not panic ever because of anxiety. Amen.
