Scripture: "But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked...till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny...But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds." Psalms 73:2-3,17,28 NIV "You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak." Psalms 77:4 NIV "They willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved ... for they did not believe in God or trust in his deliverance ... Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath. ' Psalms 78:18,22,38 "Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." Psalm 34:8 NIV Application: "My feet almost slipped." & "You kept my eyes from closing." ° These are the words of someone who knew God truly. "They put God to the test." ° These are the words of someone who knew that sin comes from forgetfulness, that is, not taking into consideration how God has brought us out of distress and into comfort. "yet He was merciful and forgave them" ° These are the words of someone who knows the love and compassion God has even for people who are disloyal to Him. We need to read these words, let them sink in. They'll make contact with us in our daily lives and give us unimaginable comfort. It's hard to articulate. It must be personally experienced. "Taste and see that the Lord is good." ° These are the words of an invitation. Go ahead. Indulge. Prayer: Lord, we want a personal relationship with You that we'll never forget. Amen.
